Privacy Information
Camden Haven Community Bands Inc collects personal and general information about members and, in the case of youth members, their families, before and during the course of membership of the band. The main reason we collect this information is to enable the band to provide necessary and appropriate services for its members.
Health information about members is sensitive information within the terms of the National Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act. The band may seek this information under special circumstances. For example, in preparation for an event involving travel. Additionally, band members, or the families of youth members, are asked to furnish sensitive information at application or at an appropriate time where such information will assist in the duty-of-care of the member. Such information, regarding health, guardianship or other issues, will be held in confidence by the band secretary and disseminated only to relevant persons to augment duty-of-care.
To facilitate ease of communication among the band’s membership, the band permits disclosure of personal contact information (name, phone and email details) across the band membership.
The band, from time to time, may disclose personal, general and sensitive information to others for administrative and duty-of-care purposes. These may include organisers of eisteddfods, state and national band competitions, tour and other performance venues, visiting conductors, workshop leaders and others who provide services to the band.
On occasions, information relating to a members musical and other achievements, names and photographs of members, band activities and other news is published in newsletters, newspapers, event programs, promotional leaflets and posters and on websites.
The band reserves the right to hold and publish names, photographs and achievement of past members and conductors for historical and archival purposes.
The band, from time to time, engages in fundraising activities. Information received from members, or the families of youth members, may be used to make an appeal to you. The band will not disclose your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent.
Band members, and/or the families of youth members may seek access to personal information collected about them and their son/daughter by contacting the band secretary.
Members, or the families of youth members, have the right at any time to inform the band, in writing, they are withdrawing their permission for the collecting, holding or publishing of information in a specific instance or generally. However, if the band does not hold the required information referred to above, or, if the band cannot disseminate information in accordance with the principles above, it may not be able to permit the member’s continuing involvement in all activities or the member’s involvement in a specific activity.
